Standard Charge

We charge £25 per half hour (minimum 1 hour charged).

 

When we discuss the issue or request with you, we will give an estimate as to how long this will take. If the job takes longer than estimated, we will contact you to confirm it is ok to continue. 

 

There are some pieces of work we charge a fixed fee for - please see below for further details.

Between 0 - 8 miles of Hornchurch Town Centre - Free

Over 8 miles - by arrangement (a fee or time may be applied)

Please find below an indication as to how long  an upgrade or repair will usually take:

 

Upgrade / Repair / Installation 

Memory upgrade - 1/2 hour

Graphics Card upgrade - 1/2 hour

Fitting an additional or replacement hard drive (internal) - 1 hour*

Fitting an additional or replacement hard drive (external) - 1/2 hour

Setting up a network - 1/2 hour 

Setting up a wireless network and configuring wireless security - 1 hour

Installing and configuring a printer - 1/2 hour

Troubleshooting Windows crashes (blue screen) - 1-3 hours

Installing and configuring Anti Virus, Anti Spyware or Anti Adware - 1/2 hour each

 

 

Virus Removal - £75

Virus / Spyware / Adware - 5-10 hours. There is a standard charge of £75 for this service. The laptop or PC will be taken back to our workshop to carry out the fix.

                         

 

 

Tuning / Security 

Removal of old files - 1/2 hour - 1 hour

Clean up web activity  - 1/2 hour

General tuning - 1 hour

Firewall and / or Security software - 1 hour

                                                                                                 

 

Re-installing an Operating System  £120 (or £80)

Rebuild an Operating System - (this can take anywhere from 3-5+ hours, we would normally take the PC away to do this)*.

The PC will be formatted which will destroy all current data. A new clean O/S will then be loaded and fully updated to the current patches.

 

There is the option of a 'non destructive' rebuild - this can be carried out for £80 - the build does not format the drive, we simply replace the Windows O/S files. 

It is recommended that a backup of the data is taken before taking this route as this is not a preferred solution and can be risky. 

 

 

Backing up a users documents, emails, music etc,. £50 (for up to 3 DVDs)

To backup, the disk is removed from the users PC or laptop and placed in an external rig. The data can then be transferred to media such as DVD.

The cost for transferring data to DVD is £50 for up to 3 DVDs ( around 12GB of data)

Additional DVD's cost £15 each (around 4GB per DVD).

As the cost for external hard drives has dropped, it is a good idea to buy one of these. You will be able to back up your own data - we can show you how to do this.

 

VISTA / Windows 7 USERS - 

Please note - In most cases Vista and Windows does not come with a O/S backup disk. You need to CREATE THIS YOURSELF - you will need 2-3 blank DVD-R disks (not dvd -rw) These can be bought from most computer stores.

 

From the Start Button (bottom left corner) click on search and type in - recovery - 

This should show the recovery manager. 

Follow the onscreen prompts. 

 

Without this disk - it can be difficult to rebuild your system

* Please note 

  • When fitting a new hard drive, rebuilding an operating system (O/S), fault finding a problem, removing a virus, etc. the amount of time required is based on several factors and can be time consuming. 
  • The customer will need to supply a valid O/S disk and License key (the license key is often on the case of your PC).
  • New hardware can be supplied, but may require a home visit initially to confirm the correct hardware is purchased.
